Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it IS a simple, reversible mod that might be fun to play around with. FCP Euro specializes in premium OEM, Genuine and Aftermarket car parts for. Does anyone have decent directions on how to do the golf tee mod? I did a quick search, but didn't really find anything.

I have read numerous forums on the topic and how it effected the exhaust note. Theoretically the vacuum closes the valve on lower RPM and opens up at higher (As far as i know). By pulling the line and plugging it with something such as a golf tee (I used a screw), the valve will stay open indefinitely.

I was under the impression that the golf tee mod could only be done on 330's. I think a few later models of E46 325i (04+?) have the same exhaust flap as the 330's. I know mine does unless they sold me 330i with a 325i emblem on the trunk.

The golf tee mod is unplugging the exhaust valve flapper to leave the drivers side exhaust open all the time for a little more noise and better sound. It is call the golf tee mod, because the common way to perform the mod is to get under the car, unplug the vacuum line from the flapper valve just before the exhaust tip and using a golf tee to plug the vacuum line. The 2nd method is to unplug.

The Golf tee mod is possible with the 325xi and the 330i/xi exhaust. The exhaust system has a valve on the innermost pipe that is closed at lower revs and opens when tach exceeds 2000 rpm. The golf tee mod is done by pulling the tubing off the gate above the valve and sticking a tee or bolt into the end.

If you are not familiar with what the gold tee mod is I will explain. There is a exhaust flap inside your muffler that is controlled by a vacuum hose that opens and closes the exhaust flap. If ur bmw has a twin exhaust, when u look into the pipes, the right pipe should have a little flap connected to an actuator which opens and closes as the car requires it.

The mod is to keep it open to increase the exhaust note.
