TourGuide ("we", "our", "us") provides story-driven audio travel guides on Android. This policy describes how we handle information when you use the app, in line with GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and India DPDP Act principles.

We do not sell your personal data.

What this app does

Journey packs — curated audio guides for road trips and destinations (more journeys added over time)
Audio files are downloaded from our public content CDN (Google Cloud Storage) and cached on your device
During an active journey, the app uses location (including background) to play the right chapter at the right time
There is no user sign-in, Firestore trip catalog, or runtime AI backend in v1.0

We do not continuously upload your live GPS track to our servers during a journey. Location is processed on-device for trigger logic.

Background location

TourGuide requests background location only during an active journey so narration can start when you approach a place while the phone is locked or another app is open.

Background location is not used when no journey is active
A foreground service notification is shown while a journey runs
End the journey or revoke permissions in Android settings to stop background use

Data retention

Cached audio and manifest: until you clear app storage or uninstall
Active journey / preferences: until journey ends, you clear data, or uninstall
Analytics / crash data: per Google Firebase retention in your project

There is no cloud account or server-side journey history in v1.0.

Your rights

Depending on your region, you may request access, correction, deletion, withdrawal of consent, or object to processing. EU/UK users may lodge complaints with a supervisory authority. Contact us below.

Changes

We may update this policy. The Last updated date will change. This page is the canonical web version hosted on our content CDN.
