Air Chief warns Pak against LoC violations
New Delhi, January 12
The ongoing cross-border tension took a new turn on Saturday as Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne spoke of “other options” to ensure compliance of peace along the Line of Control (LoC) even as Pakistan did not respond to a call for a flag meet to de-escalate tensions. Upping the ante, Browne termed the ceasefire violations by Pakistan (117 last year) as “unacceptable” and in a way warned the western neighbour that India was being forced to look at “some other options for compliance” if incidents of ceasefire violations continued.

The sun is shining bright on Muktsar much to the relief of devotees who would take a holy dip in the sarovar of the historic gurdwara as well as political parties making last-minute preparations for customary rallies at Sunday’s Maghi Mela. Politicians have timed their political rallies around afternoon and are hopeful of a large turnout at the mela held to honour the memory of the 40 Sikh warriors killed during the Battle of Muktsar in 1705 against the Mughals.

I-T summons BJP chief Gadkari

The Income Tax department has issued summons for appearance to BJP president Nitin Gadkari in connection with its investigation against him and some associated companies for alleged tax evasion. Top sources in the department said Gadkari has been asked for his personal appearance so that he can be confronted with the documents and probe conducted by the I-T in this regard in the last few months.

Outrage over gang rape has hastened reforms: Law Minister New Delhi, January 12 Law Minister Ashwani Kumar today said the national outrage over the recent gang rape in Delhi had hastened the process of changes in the justice delivery system. “Tragic events in the recent past that have shaken national sensitivity and shocked the national conscience have indeed hastened the process of introspection” on this aspect, Kumar said while addressing a conference on “Recent Trends in Judicial Reforms: A Global Perspective” organised by the India International Law Foundation (IILF).
