Acclaimed Finnish photographer, videographer, and graphic designer Marko Simonen has officially launched Kayfabe Diary as a dedicated website at kayfabediary.com. The platform expands on his long-running Instagram project, offering fans and industry insiders a rare, behind-the-scenes view of the vibrant pro wrestling scene in Finland and beyond.

A fixture in Nordic pro wrestling since 2010, Simonen began his journey photographing the sport shortly after debuting as a referee. Over the years, he has built the most extensive photographic archive of pro wrestling in Northern Europe and earned recognition as one of Europe’s leading wrestling photographers.

Kayfabe Diary captures candid backstage moments, dramatic promo shoots, and personal reflections that go far beyond the ring. Originally launched on Instagram in 2016, the project now enters a new phase with a standalone online hub, bringing over 15 years of visual storytelling to a wider audience. Included, fans will recognize some familiar faces from WWE NXT UK, TNA Wrestling, and NWA Powerrr.

Simonen’s work is deeply woven into the Nordic wrestling industry. Since 2020, he has collaborated with SLAM! Wrestling Finland, contributing photography, graphics, marketing, video production, and more to events across Finland, Estonia, and Sweden. His creative efforts have helped SLAM! expand its reach internationally, including video production for TrillerTV (formerly FITE).

His earlier fine art series, Scarred (2012–2013), documented Finnish pro wrestlers in striking, emotive portraits, solidifying his reputation for capturing the grit and humanity of the sport. Beyond imagery, Simonen is also a historian of Finnish wrestling, recently publishing a detailed article on the sport’s national history on Saunazilla.com.
