1700 x 700 Shower Tray Bathroom Mountain Peak Drainage

The 1700 x 700 shower tray bathroom mountain aesthetic represents a significant shift in contemporary bathroom design, merging the practicality of a spacious, walk-in shower with the organic serenity of natural stone. This specific dimension provides an ideal canvas for creating a tranquil sanctuary within the home, allowing for a generous space that feels open and airy. The "mountain" concept often refers to textured finishes, earthy color palettes, and rugged stone materials that evoke the feeling of a natural landscape. This design choice moves away from sterile, minimalist bathrooms toward environments that promote relaxation and wellness. Homeowners are increasingly drawn to this style for its ability to add a touch of luxury and drama to the daily routine. It transforms a functional space into a personal spa, enhancing the overall value and appeal of the property. The combination of the generous 1700mm width and 700mm depth ensures comfort, making it suitable for both single and dual occupancy bathrooms.

The Allure of Natural Stone and Mountain Aesthetics

At the heart of the 1700 x 700 shower tray bathroom mountain theme is the material. Homeowners frequently opt for stone-effect tiles or large-format natural stone slabs like slate, basalt, or travertine to achieve this look. These materials are chosen not only for their beauty but also for their durability and slip-resistant qualities, which are crucial in a wet area. The color palette typically draws inspiration from the earth, featuring shades of grey, taupe, deep green, and sandy beige. This connection to nature is a core driver of the biophilic design trend, which emphasizes incorporating natural elements into built environments to improve well-being. The tactile quality of a textured stone floor and walls provides visual interest and a sense of authenticity that synthetic materials struggle to replicate. This aesthetic is about creating a connection to the outdoors, even when the weather is less than ideal.

Design Elements and Material Choices

• Stone-Finish Tiles: High-tech porcelain tiles that mimic the look of natural slate or granite offer a cost-effective and low-maintenance alternative.
• Solid Surface Stone: Composite materials like quartz can be molded into seamless tray bases, providing a sophisticated, non-porous surface that is easy to clean.
• Raw Stone: For a truly authentic mountain feel, large slabs of natural stone are installed directly, creating a unique and luxurious feature.

The choice of finish plays a critical role in the final atmosphere. A honed or brushed finish will absorb light and create a softer, more matte appearance, while a polished finish can add a touch of glamour and reflect light to make the space feel larger. The key is to ensure the texture provides sufficient grip, especially for the shower tray floor, prioritizing safety without compromising the visual design. The 1700 x 700 format allows for intricate patterns, such as herringbone or linear layouts, which can guide the eye and enhance the sense of depth, making the shower area a true focal point.

Optimizing Space and Functionality

While the mountain aesthetic is about evoking a natural feeling, the 1700 x 700 shower tray must remain a highly functional space. The generous width of 1700mm is a game-changer, transforming a standard shower into a spacious retreat where one can comfortably stand and move. This is particularly beneficial in master bathrooms or for families where multiple people use the bathroom in the morning. The depth of 700mm provides ample room for a tall person to stand without feeling crowded, and it accommodates a significant volume of water, which contributes to a more powerful and immersive shower experience. This size also allows for the inclusion of seating or a built-in bench, a feature that is both practical for washing and adds to the spa-like ambiance.

Layout Considerations for a 1700 x 700 Shower

Integrating this size into a bathroom requires careful planning to ensure a harmonious layout. A linear drain is often the preferred choice for a tray of this size, as it creates a seamless, stone-on-stone look that is both modern and easy to clean. The shower tray can be paired with a minimalist glass screen or a wet-room-style open plan, depending on the desired level of openness. For smaller bathrooms, careful consideration of the door swing and access points is essential to prevent the space from feeling claustrophobic. The "mountain" theme can be extended beyond the tray itself, with feature walls clad in the same stone-look tiles or plaster finishes that echo the color and texture of the flooring. This creates a cohesive and thoughtfully designed retreat.

The Practical Benefits of a Spacious Shower Tray

Beyond the visual appeal, the 1700 x 700 dimensions offer distinct practical advantages. The larger surface area allows for better water drainage, reducing the risk of pooling and creating a safer environment. The depth provides a built-in reservoir for water, which helps to maintain a consistent temperature during the shower. Cleaning a large, seamless tray is often simpler than navigating numerous small tiles and grout lines, as there are fewer places for soap scum and limescale to accumulate. For accessibility, this extra space is invaluable, providing the room needed for a wheelchair or walker to maneuver comfortably. The investment in a high-quality 1700 x 700 tray is an investment in both long-term durability and daily comfort, making it a smart choice for any modern bathroom renovation.

Creating a Cohesive Bathroom Sanctuary

A 1700 x 700 shower tray configured with a mountain aesthetic does not exist in isolation; it is the centerpiece of a broader design narrative. The goal is to create a seamless transition from the wet area to the rest of the bathroom. This can be achieved by using consistent materials, such as extending the same stone-look tiles onto the walls or incorporating complementary wood accents on the vanity unit. The lighting is also crucial; avoiding harsh, overhead lights in favor of layered lighting with warm tones can enhance the relaxing atmosphere. Consider installing dimmable LED strips along the base of the tray or behind stone-feature walls to add drama and highlight the texture. The result is a cohesive environment where the shower is not just a place to get clean, but a vital component of a peaceful and restorative home sanctuary.
