Dye Boat Canvas

How To Dye Faded Canvas? Dyeing canvas can be easily accomplished either in a washing machine or by using a manual method. For the washing machine method, simply add bottled dye, laundry detergent, and hot water, allowing for a convenient, hands-off approach. Alternatively, you can immerse the canvas in a bucket with a dye packet, salt, and hot.

Anyone dyed their bimini canvas? I think mine would look much better in black (and it would hide the mold;)) I understand that synthetics may not take dyes like RIT dye very well and there are spray can dyes for canvas Any experience out there?

My very expensive dodger, bimini, and sail cover are badly faded. Assuming it's Subrella (no label or maker's label, unfortunately), the color is "Toast," or "Sand." I can get a few more years out of it, but I was wishing there was some kind of color.
