Took the bike to an independent BMW specialist who ran a diagnostic and found no fault with ABS. As suggested above during startup the voltage drops below 10.5 v which prevents ABS starting up, hence flashing lights. He suggested looking at starter motor problem (thanks Oracle).

Haven't had my 96 R 1100 GS for long but the ABS lights (two) flash in an alternating fashion (back and forth). Been told it's probably a low battery but have taken it out for a 100 mile ride and there was no change. Battery is supposed to be only 1 year old.
Any advice? My BMW dealership is. Worked a treat! I did as you said and it cleared the fault and reset the ABS controller. Located the diagnostic plug just in front of the toolbox under the rear saddle.
Plugged a ground wire into the centre pin, and clipped the other end to the Negative battery terminal. Ignition on, the lights flash alternately. Hold down ABS button for 10 seconds.

Extra das Modell gesucht ohne BKV und dazu keine 1100er sondern das bessere Modell ABS mäßig gesehen.Dachte Ich. Bin ein neues Mitglied! Hallo zusammen!
