According to the High Country Press (HCP), Andy Owens coordinated with the Amish to bring them to the area to build 12 sheds that would be used as tiny homes for victims. Many nonprofits stepped up to help people forced from storm-damaged homes in western North Carolina, where some people were living in tents.

In December, months after Hurricane Helene destroyed her neighborhood in rural Fletcher, North Carolina, Staci Hope was beginning to wonder whether she'd ever have a safe place to live again. The initiative is part of Lowe's $12 million pledge to support relief and recovery efforts in the wake of the devastation in Western North Carolina from Hurricane Helene and the extensive damage from Hurricane Milton in Florida. CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Eleven weeks after Hurricane Helene devastated western North Carolina, local builders and Lowe's are creating 17 tiny homes to provide immediate shelter for families who lost.
