Linen Shower Curtain Reddit

The idea I think is to squeeze it after showering and let it dry. And wash once a week. Has anyone had any experience with these? Update: got a linen curtain and it's fine! It barely gets wet, and dries quickly.

I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but works well for me so far. Another surprising side effect: I get more light in the shower because it's 1 curtain instead of two. Okay to use linen shower liner/curtain? Wasn't sure where to ask this.

I am moving towards a more plastic free life. I want to stop buying plastic/PVC/vinyl based shower curtains. I'm thinking of using linen cloth as both the shower liner (stays inside the bathtub) and the shower curtain (falls outside the bathtub).

The non-vinyl plastic shower curtains (not the same thing as a shower "liner", which go between the water and the fabric curtain) last a long time with a little care. My shower curtains were purchased in the 90s. Still good.

They are polyester (I think) as two separate curtains. I wash them with my white laundry every couple of months. A single color internal curtain and an outer curtain with a design on it.

The outer design has faded a lot over the 25+ years but I have not found anything better to replace. Might be strange solution, but depending on the length there are some really beautiful linen blend fabric shower curtains. Hearth and Hand by Magnolia comes to mind.

You'd need hooks, obviously, but could be a fun alternative- or just a wacky idea! A bit more expensive then a normal shower curtain, but is all in one, no hooks to buy and rust, no liner to buy, unless you buy a replacement or extra one. They have different sizes for tubs vs stalls.

I just picked up a new shower curtain at an estate sale, it was sold new back in the 70's for $40, I paid $2 for it. It is 50% cotton, 50% polyester. Neither the package or the tag on the curtain state if a liner is required.
