Getting ready for spark plug replacement and sorting through the opinions and confusion which spark plugs I actually need. BMW specification is BOSCH ZR5TPP33S PN: 12120037582 but many people and many places that sale them list and recommend ZR5TPP33 as a replacement or "equivalent". We've found the NGK SILZKBR8D8S (97506) in the picture attached working great when gapped to appropriate spec. This question pops up a lot, so I'm just curious what plugs the N55 guys are using. It is my understanding that the same plugs work across the N54, N55, S55 engines.

SILZKBR8D8S is the BMW N20 plug which is 1 step colder and seems to a popular choice. SILZKBR9F8S is the BMW N20 Flex Fuel plug. If your BMW N55 is modified, tuned, FBO, etc., the 1-step colder spark plugs are the best option.

These spark plugs are more efficient at transferring heat and reducing the likelihood of engine knocks or pre-detonation, which becomes a concern at higher boost and horsepower levels. The photo of the $28 appears to be in a BMW box, there may be a price difference for OE vs OEM. Also worth noting that there have been cases of fake Bosch plugs being sold.
