The new BMW iX3 will include a front trunk for the first time since the i3. It's small, made from recycled marine plastic, and long overdue. The original BMW iX3 Frunk by WOKEBY.

It will give you about 47 liters of additional storage space under the hood. The frunk BMW iX3 (also for facelift version LCI) consists of the following individual parts: A charging tray for the engine compartment of your e-car to create additional space for charging equipment and car accessories. A mounting kit for your frunk.

Optional: a luggage net and a non. Now that changes. The 2026 BMW iX3, based on the new Neue Klasse platform, will come with a frunk.

It's not big. It's not a game-changer. But it's there, officially confirmed by BMW, tucked under the hood of their upcoming electric SUV.

And oddly enough, it was revealed almost offhandedly. What About the New 2027 BMW i3? The upcoming Neue Klasse i3 sedan NA0 (also due in 2026) shares its underpinnings with the iX3. So there's a good chance it'll get a frunk too, though that hasn't been confirmed.

If it does, it'll make BMW's electric lineup finally feel a bit more competitive. A frunk offers an additional 2 cubic feet of storage, perfect to store the charging cable. Most interesting: It features an engine cover of sorts, complete with the BMW roundel, to keep the dust out.
