Bmw Roadster History

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), [1] and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. BMW announced their first roadster in 1934. This first concept, with its six-cylinder power and two-seater body, started a model line that extends all the way to the latest BMW Z4. BMW 315/1 Roadster The starting point for this development came at the Berlin Motor Show in May 1934.

The guys over at XCAR have created this wonderful video showcasing the history of BMW roadster dating back from 1929 until today. It's a little over 20 minutes long but it's very much worth your time. By the late 1980s, however, BMW hadn't made a mass-produced open-topped two-seater for 30 years.

The German automaker BMW has a very long history of making classy looking roasters and sports cars. The BMW Z4 is no different. Their first roadster attempt came out all the way back in 1929 with the 3/15.

So it isn't like the manufacturer is a stranger to this particular style of car, though they. From then on the roadster was a part of BMW until 2013. After these models were retired, they were replaced by the 328, the 507 later on and going over to more recent years, the Z8 and Z4.
