High Mileage Bmw N55

Highest milage N55? All times are GMT. High Mileage N55 Is it worth buying a bmw with a n55 motor over 100k miles? Obviously there will be maintenance to be done but as far as longevity will it continue to have more problems down the line like a n54? Out of interest what's the highest Mx35i we have on the forum? What's the biggest mileage you've seen on a N55 engine?

Anyone out there with a high mileage N55 engine? I'm curious as to how well they hold up past 100k. Just rolled over to 132k on my F10, and have really only had to deal with a couple minor things and the oil filter housing gasket. EDIT: Maintenance followed BMW recommendations up until around 70k miles, then I started changing the oil closer to every 7500 miles, and replaced the transmission.

Given the high mileage of your car, apart from engine oil changes, I'd be looking at changing the transmission oil as well. If it is a steptronic BMW specify that it is sealed for life, but one can only assume they mean the life of the transmission and not the car! The N55 is a fairly reliable engine.

At this mileage, a lot depends on how the car was cared for as much as how it's made. Honestly, there is no way to tell.
