2a87 Bmw Code N54

Performed SIB 110208 and performed Test Plan B1214 NG6NWA-Exhaust camshaft sensor and result gave diag code for VANOS solenoid valve (Diag code D1130 B0000000 03 001).

Performed steps in SIB and checked oil filter cap and was found to be OK. Here to share a repair done recently that fixed the 2A87 VANOS code on my 2008 E88 135i powered by the N54. The issue first came up when one day I floored the pedal on my way home out of boredom.

I have an 07 e90 335i with about 119k miles and as of lately I have been experiencing 2a87 exhaust vanos mechanism. I have already replaced both vanos solenoids and the code still pops up even when I am not on it. I am fearing the worst and think it could be my cam ledge bearings.

I am not mechanically inclined to do this job myself so I will be taking it to a local BMW indy shop. My question. I had N54 codes 2A87, 2A7A, and 3100.
