2a98 Bmw Code N54

So I was getting a single 2a99 shadow code being stored in the DME. In reading a few threads on various sites people recommended pulling the VANOS solenoids, cleaning, then swapping locations. I completed that a few weeks back and all seemed well with no new codes being stored.
