Bmw Z4 E85 Drain Holes

The drain tube is in two pieces. The top part from that plastic tray joins on to the main drain a couple of inches down. If you get your drain clearing slightly wrong you will separate the two halves.

Then the water fills up the inner sills instead. So proceed with caution. I use a piece of plastic tubing, with the end cut at an angle so I can just fit it into the top of the hole, then blow!

I got 4-5 small leaves and some other misc dirt and 'gunk' out of the drain and drain area. I also opted to open up the drain about 2-3 mm more by using a pair of scissors on the rubber drain plug. Also, on my 2005 Z4 you don't have to take off the entire wheel lining, just the smallest portion closest to the door.

I had problems with these getting blocked a year ago and damaging the roof motor. The main dealer took the roof off, cleaned the drains and renewed the motor. I want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again.

I know how to access the bottom part of the drainage channels and have removed. The last poster on the Z-Post Thread said that you can see and reach the drains through a rectangular hole on the splash guard. Is that true? (my Z4's in the shop, so I can't check right now).

It is not a regular service. This is a great solution for the z4 roof drain problem, 14mm OD Pvc tubing is a perfect fit for the grommet, I'll be adding some silicone to the plug before putting it in the hole. Then with the florescent pipe it's easier to spot a blockage.

Hi all, I tried to clear the drain hole by removing the bungs and using a metal coat hanger and some plastic piping but couldn't clear it properly. I got some grit and mud out but it's still blocked, anyone got any tips on what to use/buy to clear them properly please.
