At its core, floor sweating is a simple process of condensation. When warm, humid air comes into contact with a surface that is significantly colder than the air’s dew point, the water vapor in the air condenses into liquid water. Imagine a cold glass of ice water on a hot day; the moisture forming on the outside of the glass is the exact same process happening on your flooring. The "sweat" is simply moisture being pulled out of the air and deposited onto the cooler surface below.
