WEBVTT

00:00.000 --> 00:09.000
Welcome back. In this video, we're going to build the A202 drawing file and talk about titles and the different scales those drawings are going to be set at.

00:09.000 --> 00:14.000
So the first thing we need to do is to create a new file. So let's go file new.

00:15.000 --> 00:19.000
Make sure that you're using the VDCI CD template. I'll hit open.

00:20.000 --> 00:26.000
And in this drawing, we're going to be placing this on the VDCI 22 by 34 sheet.

00:26.000 --> 00:34.000
But the first thing you want to do is attach our floor plan. So I'm going to go to the insert tab, reference attach.

00:34.000 --> 00:43.000
I'm going to browse out of my title blocks folder up twice and find my VDCI CAD 301 plan model. I'll hit open.

00:44.000 --> 00:51.000
And here, I want to set the scale at 1, the insertion point at 00. This is an attachment and it's a relative path.

00:51.000 --> 00:57.000
I'll hit OK. It'll be placed automatically at 00 and I'll zoom extents.

00:57.000 --> 01:08.000
Now we can go file save and go into my sheets folder and here's CAD 301 A201.

01:08.000 --> 01:13.000
I'll click that to see the name and I'll replace the one with the two.

01:13.000 --> 01:19.000
So this is CAD 301-A202.dwg. I'll hit save.

01:19.000 --> 01:22.000
And now we're ready to begin to build this sheet.

01:22.000 --> 01:26.000
Now if you look at your handout, you'll see that it uses the same title block.

01:26.000 --> 01:30.000
There's the space on the right side for the floor plan keynotes.

01:30.000 --> 01:34.000
There's the space on the right side for the floor plan keynotes.

01:35.000 --> 01:40.000
But then the viewport itself or the drawing area is split into four sections.

01:40.000 --> 01:44.000
These are going to be our quarter no plots that you see on the screen.

01:44.000 --> 01:48.000
The kitchen is going to be at a 1.5 inch scale.

01:48.000 --> 01:52.000
You can see that because this no plot is larger.

01:52.000 --> 01:57.000
And then the other three views, the enlarged guest bathroom, the Jack and Jill bathroom,

01:57.000 --> 02:02.000
and the hall bath are all going to be at 1 inch equals a foot scale.

02:03.000 --> 02:06.000
So let's jump into our paper space.

02:06.000 --> 02:10.000
And I'm going to first attach our title block.

02:10.000 --> 02:17.000
This is going to set the bounds for where we're going to be placing our viewports.

02:17.000 --> 02:20.000
Then I'm going to insert the TVTX file.

02:20.000 --> 02:23.000
You'll notice I still have my blocks window open.

02:23.000 --> 02:28.000
We'll use that once the title block is in place and then we can draw our viewports.

02:28.000 --> 02:36.000
So the first thing I want to do is once again go reference attach, go into my blocks, title blocks folder,

02:36.000 --> 02:40.000
and again I'm going to find the VDCI TTLB2234.

02:40.000 --> 02:47.000
The key with the attaching is now this file is referenced in our A201 file and our 202 file.

02:47.000 --> 02:51.000
If we ever need to change something like the client address or the revision list,

02:51.000 --> 02:54.000
it will automatically update in all of our sheet files.

02:54.000 --> 02:56.000
So I'll hit open.

02:56.000 --> 03:01.000
In this case, it's the exact same settings because this is a paper space file,

03:01.000 --> 03:04.000
drawn a paper space scale, brought into paper space.

03:04.000 --> 03:06.000
I'll hit OK.

03:06.000 --> 03:10.000
And we can see that it populates all of that information automatically.

03:10.000 --> 03:16.000
Now we want to insert our text file, which is the title block text file that fills in

03:16.000 --> 03:20.000
our drawn by check by scale and sheet number.

03:20.000 --> 03:24.000
So I'm going to hit the insert button.

03:24.000 --> 03:29.000
Find the TVTX file, hit open.

03:29.000 --> 03:34.000
And again, I'm going to set this at 0,0, enter.

03:34.000 --> 03:37.000
And we'll see once again the edit attributes pop up.

03:37.000 --> 03:44.000
In this case, we're still going to, in this case, the sheet number is A2.2,

03:44.000 --> 03:47.000
drawn by are going to be my initials.

03:47.000 --> 03:50.000
Checked by are also my initials.

03:50.000 --> 03:53.000
And in this case, the scale should be as noted.

03:53.000 --> 03:58.000
We talked about this in an earlier video, but because we have four drawings on the screen,

03:58.000 --> 04:03.000
because we have four drawings on the sheet, and in this case, they're actually at different scales.

04:03.000 --> 04:06.000
The scale here says as noted.

04:06.000 --> 04:11.000
This means check the drawing titles so that we can understand what the scale is on each drawing.

04:11.000 --> 04:13.000
I'll hit OK.

04:13.000 --> 04:15.000
And this will be placed down here.

04:15.000 --> 04:19.000
Zoom Extents control us to save.

04:19.000 --> 04:25.000
In this case are no plots, include the space for our drawing titles.

04:25.000 --> 04:32.000
So we only need to place four viewports, and we don't need any additional space left for the drawing titles.

04:32.000 --> 04:38.000
So on the contextual layout tab, I'm going to draw four rectangular viewports.

04:38.000 --> 04:44.000
Now, if I hit the drop down here, you can see that there's a polygon option and an object option.

04:44.000 --> 04:50.000
If you generate these through the layout viewports button, you can actually draw four at the same time.

04:50.000 --> 04:54.000
But for now, we're going to use the rectangular tool four times in a row.

04:54.000 --> 04:56.000
So I'll hit rectangular.

04:56.000 --> 05:05.000
I'm going to start at this midpoint, and I'm going to go shift right click, mid between two points, this end point, and this end point.

05:05.000 --> 05:10.000
Now, I can draw three more, or I can actually use copy.

05:10.000 --> 05:23.000
So I'll go to the home tab, copy my viewport, enter the sand and selecting objects, from the end point to once again, the end point, end point, and end point.

05:23.000 --> 05:32.000
Now, when a viewport is created in AutoCAD, even though these look identical right now, because they are, you can actually change the settings of each one independently.

05:32.000 --> 05:39.000
So if I jump into this viewport, I can move it around, and it won't update the location of the other viewports.

05:39.000 --> 05:44.000
We saw this in our CAD 201 course with the elevations.

05:44.000 --> 05:50.000
So for now, let's use our zoom window to set each of these views appropriately.

05:50.000 --> 05:53.000
If you check the handout, we're going to start up here with drawing one.

05:53.000 --> 05:56.000
This is going to be over the kitchen and laundry room area.

05:56.000 --> 06:04.000
So I'm going to zoom in so that I can see the viewport, then double click into my viewport, and zoom in close to my no plot.

06:04.000 --> 06:14.000
I'll go Z, enter, W, enter for zoom window, shift right click end point, to the shift right click end point.

06:14.000 --> 06:16.000
And that will zoom in there.

06:16.000 --> 06:17.000
I'm going to check my scale.

06:17.000 --> 06:21.000
You can see that it says one half inch equals one foot, zero inches.

06:21.000 --> 06:26.000
That's correct. So I'll lock my viewport, and jump outside.

06:26.000 --> 06:28.000
Let's come down to this view.

06:28.000 --> 06:30.000
I'm going to jump in with a double click.

06:30.000 --> 06:32.000
This one is over the fireplace.

06:32.000 --> 06:35.000
So I'll zoom in to that no plot.

06:35.000 --> 06:43.000
Z, enter, W, enter, shift right click end point, to the shift right click end point.

06:43.000 --> 06:44.000
Check my scale.

06:44.000 --> 06:47.000
This one is set to one inch equals one foot, zero.

06:47.000 --> 06:52.000
So I'll lock that viewport, jump out, pan over, and jump back in.

06:52.000 --> 06:56.000
This one is the whole bath down here.

06:57.000 --> 07:04.000
Z, enter, W, enter, shift right click end point, to the shift right click end point.

07:04.000 --> 07:13.000
I'll lock my viewport, double click out, pan up, and finally this is the Jack and Jill bathroom.

07:13.000 --> 07:16.000
Z, enter, W, enter, shift right click end point.

07:16.000 --> 07:19.000
And again, remember this is a little messy up here.

07:19.000 --> 07:24.000
I can hover over the line anywhere where the end point is showing on my screen.

07:24.000 --> 07:26.000
Here, shift right click end point.

07:26.000 --> 07:32.000
I'll do the same thing, but on this side, down at the bottom.

07:32.000 --> 07:34.000
Click, checking my scale.

07:34.000 --> 07:40.000
I said that it's one inch, so I can lock my viewport, double click out, and zoom extends.

07:40.000 --> 07:43.000
A couple more things I want to clean up before we end this video.

07:43.000 --> 07:47.000
You can see that all of my viewports were drawn on the current layer.

07:47.000 --> 07:49.000
That's layer zero.

07:49.000 --> 07:52.000
In this case, I want to set them to a no plot.

07:52.000 --> 08:01.000
So I'll come down, pick one, two, three, four, migrate those to the a no plot layer.

08:01.000 --> 08:14.000
And the last thing I want to do is look at my drawing and look at where the drawing itself inside of my drawing is cropped.

08:14.000 --> 08:20.000
And you can see that it's actually not going all the way to the end of the keynotes here.

08:20.000 --> 08:22.000
You can see that it's brought in a little bit.

08:22.000 --> 08:28.000
Once this view is set to scale, I can actually move the shape of my viewport.

08:28.000 --> 08:31.000
It will not move the drawing underneath.

08:31.000 --> 08:34.000
It won't change the scale or location.

08:34.000 --> 08:40.000
So in this case, I'm going to click on this end point and move into this end point.

08:40.000 --> 08:44.000
And I'll do that on all of these viewports.

08:44.000 --> 08:47.000
One, two, three, four, right?

08:47.000 --> 08:59.000
Let's go here and to that end point and here up to this end point, escape escape here to this end point and here to this end point escape escape.

08:59.000 --> 09:06.000
And the last one here to this end point and here this one's tough to get to this end point escape escape.

09:06.000 --> 09:15.000
I'll zoom extents and control us to save all of our drawing titles are located with their snaps at the bottom left.

09:15.000 --> 09:20.000
So this drawing title, for instance, will snap to this midpoint.

09:20.000 --> 09:25.000
And then the next one will snap to that drawing title, etc.

09:25.000 --> 09:34.000
But there is one more set of lines that we can draw for this drawing because you can see in between the views, there's actually a vertical line.

09:34.000 --> 09:52.000
So I'm going to switch to my ATLV layer, go to my line tool and go from the shift right click mid between two points here to here to the shift right click perpendicular at the bottom enter to sand done.

09:52.000 --> 10:01.000
And I'll do that one more time from this midpoint to this midpoint, enter to go back into my line tool midpoint to midpoint enter to sand done.

10:01.000 --> 10:12.000
Now we've established four distinct points end points end points end points and in this case it's the intersection for our four drawing titles.

10:12.000 --> 10:15.000
We will bring those drawing titles in in the next video.
