Can You Paint The Toons On A Pontoon Boat

Hey you guys getting things lined up for when i tear the boat apart to add a third toon. Would like some input on what kind of paint to use on the toons they are already white would like to repaint.Thanks.

Definitely needs bottom paint. How often you need to re-paint it will depend on how you use the boat (i.e. if you beach it a lot, the sand will wear the paint off the bottom quickly).

As a pontoon manufacturer and 3rd generation boat dealer, I can honestly tell you no matter what you do, you will NOT make paint stick to the toons. First tiny flake, scratch, or nick it will peel off almost immediately.

Re: Pontoon tube painting If you leave your boat in the water they need to be painted. If you launch it all the time and not in salt water they don't. Repainting properly is a 3 day job. Prep, prime with Epoxy primer, then paint with aluminum bottom paint. It is a DIY project but do it right if you want the toons to last.

What product is best to use to color coat the toons? Looking for a roll on product that will last for a long time.

The color was right out of Henry Ford's playbook: I could get any color bottom paint as long as I wanted black. The bottom paint was a special type available for aluminum boats. There's not a huge market around here so there's not a lot of options. Of course most people thought I was crazy for trying to bottom paint the 'toons.

Painting toons #1 by Gonefishing Mon Jan 25, 2016 1:32 am Ok all, I want to paint the upper half of my toons. I use mine in salt water and have the lower half painted with special paint. Now I want to just paint the upper half so it will be easier to keep clean. The salt leaves stains and trash on them.

I'm thinking about having my toons on my 2575 painted black, what's the recommended paint and what are your experiences with painted toons, I just don't like the high polished look, black would match my boat but I'm worried bumpers would rub the paint off.
