Tecumseh Coil Under Flywheel. There is no air gap setting for the ignition coil on units where the coil is mounted underneath the flywheel! Remove the flywheel, use a feeler gauge to set the correct gap between the flywheel magnets and ignition coil.

I just read somewhere that you need a fast enough flywheel rpm to create the spark. Remove the flywheel, use a feeler gauge to set the correct gap between the flywheel magnets and ignition coil. On the older tecumseh engines with the magneto assy under the flywheel, you don't have to worry about the air gap.

Using pliers tug the strips of plastic out of the gap between the flywheel magnets and ignition coil. The wires on the new coil did come out on the other side, but there is a spot that the holding clip snaps over to hold the coil in place so you can only put it on one way. Tecumseh engine intake and exhaust valve clearances standard point ignition: Check points and condenser for wear.
