IKEA Murphy Beds: A Comprehensive Guide
IKEA, the world-renowned Swedish furniture retailer, is synonymous with affordable, stylish, and functional home solutions. One of the most space-saving and ingenious furniture pieces is the Murphy bed, also known as a wall bed. But does IKEA make Murphy beds? Let's delve into this question and explore the world of IKEA's space-saving solutions.
What are Murphy Beds?
Murphy beds, named after their inventor, William L. Murphy, are foldable beds that can be stored vertically against a wall or inside a cabinet when not in use. They are an excellent solution for small spaces, offering a multifunctional room that can serve as a bedroom and a living room, office, or playroom.
Does IKEA Make Murphy Beds?
While IKEA does not have a dedicated Murphy bed collection, they offer several space-saving bed solutions that serve a similar purpose. These beds can be folded up against the wall or into a cabinet, freeing up floor space when not in use. Here are a few options:
- Kallax Shelving Unit with Bed (Hemnes): This is a popular choice that combines a bed with storage. The bed frame folds up into the Kallax shelving unit, hiding it away when not in use.
- Malm Bed Frame with Storage: The Malm bed frame has a lift-up mechanism that allows the mattress to be stored vertically when not in use. It's not a true Murphy bed, but it offers similar space-saving benefits.
- Bestå TV Unit with Bed (Kivik): This combination of a TV unit and a bed is perfect for small apartments. The bed frame folds up into the TV unit, leaving plenty of space for other activities.
IKEA's Space-Saving Solutions
IKEA offers a wide range of space-saving solutions that cater to different needs and budgets. Here are a few more options to consider:
- Loft Beds: Loft beds are a great solution for small rooms, especially in children's bedrooms. They provide extra floor space underneath for play or study.
- Sofa Beds: IKEA's range of sofa beds offers a comfortable seating solution that can be transformed into a bed when needed.
- Foldable Tables and Chairs: For small kitchens or dining areas, foldable tables and chairs are a practical solution that can be stored away when not in use.
