Eddie Murphy, the legendary comedian and actor, has left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. But did you know that his love for a hearty steak dinner is equally iconic? Murphy's penchant for a perfectly cooked steak has become the stuff of culinary legend, with many aspiring chefs trying to replicate his favorite meal.
Eddie Murphy's Steak Dinner: A Behind-the-Scenes Look
In an interview with Esquire, Murphy revealed his love for a good steak dinner. He prefers his steak cooked medium-rare, with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. But it's not just any steak that makes the cut for Murphy. He's a fan of high-quality, well-marbled ribeye or New York strip steaks.
Murphy's Steak Preparation: A Step-by-Step Guide
Murphy's steak preparation is as straightforward as it is delicious. Here's a step-by-step guide to recreating his favorite meal at home:
- Start by seasoning your steak generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it's smoking hot.
- Add a small amount of oil with a high smoke point, like grapeseed or canola oil.
- Sear the steak for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until it's beautifully browned.
- Reduce the heat to medium and continue cooking until the steak reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.
- Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Eddie Murphy's Steak Dinner: The Perfect Side Dishes
While the steak is the star of the show, Murphy's dinner wouldn't be complete without his favorite sides. Here are a few dishes that complement his steak dinner perfectly:
| Side Dish | Preparation |
|---|---|
| Mashed Potatoes | Boil potatoes until tender, mash with butter, milk, and salt to taste. |
| Asparagus | Roast asparagus in the oven with olive oil, salt, and pepper until tender. |
| Garlic Bread | Mix minced garlic with softened butter, spread on baguette slices, and toast until golden. |
Eddie Murphy's Steak Dinner: The Perfect Pairing
No steak dinner is complete without a perfect pairing. Murphy is a fan of a classic red wine to accompany his meal. A full-bodied cabernet sauvignon or a rich, fruity syrah would pair beautifully with his ribeye or New York strip steak.
