Understanding Extra Large Murphy Tables
Murphy tables, also known as wall bed tables, are designed to fold up against the wall when not in use, freeing up floor space. An extra large Murphy table takes this concept a step further, offering a larger work or dining surface when extended. They are perfect for homes with limited space, apartments, or rooms that serve multiple purposes.
Key Features of Extra Large Murphy Tables
- Size: As the name suggests, these tables are larger than their standard counterparts. They typically range from 72 to 96 inches in length and 30 to 42 inches in width.
- Folding Mechanism: Extra large Murphy tables use robust, heavy-duty hinges and gas lifts to support their weight and facilitate smooth folding and unfolding.
- Weight Capacity: Due to their size, these tables can support more weight than smaller Murphy tables. They often have a weight capacity of 100 to 200 pounds.
- Design and Aesthetics: Extra large Murphy tables come in various styles, from modern and minimalist to classic and traditional. Some even include built-in storage solutions.
Benefits of Choosing an Extra Large Murphy Table
Beyond their space-saving capabilities, extra large Murphy tables offer several advantages:
- They provide ample workspace for multiple people or large projects.
- They can double as a dining table, making them ideal for small homes or apartments.
- They are perfect for rooms with multiple functions, such as a home office that doubles as a guest room.
- They can enhance the value of your home, as they are a desirable feature for potential buyers.
Factors to Consider When Choosing an Extra Large Murphy Table
Before investing in an extra large Murphy table, consider the following factors:
- Room Size: Ensure the table fits comfortably in your room when extended. Measure your space carefully, including ceiling height if the table will be mounted high on the wall.
- Weight Capacity: Consider the weight you'll be placing on the table. If you plan to use it as a dining table, opt for a model with a higher weight capacity.
- Design and Aesthetics: Choose a table that complements your room's decor and meets your functional needs.
- Installation: Some extra large Murphy tables are heavy and may require professional installation. Consider this when making your purchase.
