The BMW Championship returns to Owings Mill, Md., for the first time since 2021, as the 50. The BMW Championship dates back to 1899 when it debuted as the Western Open, making it the third-oldest tournament on the PGA TOUR schedule, behind only the Open Championship and U.S. Open.
BMW has sponsored the tournament since 2007, when it became the penultimate event of the PGA TOUR's FedExCup Playoffs. The top 50 players in the FedEx Cup ranking following the first FedEx Cup Playoff event, the FedEx St Jude Championship, will get into the BMW Championship. Then, the top 30 get into the Tour Championship.
