The Coleman 242B date code combines letters and numbers to represent the manufacturing date. Decoding this pattern ensures correct year attribution, critical for accurate equipment servicing and warranty verification.

Start with the first two letters indicating the quarter (e.g., 'AB' for Q1 2023), then the numeric digit marks the production week. This system aligns with Coleman’s legacy manufacturing tracking, enabling users to pinpoint exact build dates even without original labels. Understanding this sequence aids in identifying obsolete parts or upcoming model updates.

Re: 242B date identification by Toby Thu Sep 01, 2022 7:59 pm The date code reads 5 0 or 0 5? Does the fount have a side stamp? Pictures of the date code and stamp will help determine what you have exactly. Most Coleman® 2 and 3 burner stoves have manufacturing stamps on them starting in the early 1960s, while single burner stoves were dated from their introduction in the early 1940s.
