June 6, 2023 -Several months ago, I came into possession of a large batch of Crayola colored pencils, and have experimented with them enough to discover that they’re great coloring book pencils. But they’re not very useful for fine art. The reason is that Prismacolor pencils are artist quality pencils. October 24, 2020 -They reminded me a bit of what you would get if you took a pencil and made the lead out of some mixture of lipstick, graphite and crayon. But, with a little pressure, oh the bright colors I could get! OK, so there’s the first thing that the more artistic folks would say is wrong with the Crayola’s – to get the deepest, richest colors, you need to exert a little pressure. August 16, 2015 -The Scholar line is decent, but if you ever get really serious about good pencils you'll want Prismacolor Premier. Those things... just wow. Good to know Crayola is still making respectable art supplies though. No other crayons have come close (at least that I've tried).ReplyDelete ... The scholar Prismacolor is fine but if you really want to do it right, get the premier line... They are so smooth. Like buttah!! :) also get a hold of a colorless blender to really rock your world. Answer (1 of 2):Yes Crayola is a wonderful company devoted to the goals of art experiences for children- But they are considered student-grade and non-toxic. November 15, 2020 -I used this paper to show you the Crayola signature on both high and medium quality paper types. As you can see with the layering test, the pigment strength is really quite surprising, given my conclusion after visually inspecting the pencil cores, I wasn’t expecting strong pigments. ... My next test was the blending test were I blend and mix two pigments together to create a third. this is not always an easy process to accomplish with colored pencils and so I find it a good indication to the core qualities. May 4, 2015 -A good introduction medium for those getting started with colored pencils. And it doesn’t hurt that just about everybody will recognize the trusted Crayola name. November 5, 2023 -When I asked my YouTube community, the majority agreed that the Caran d’Ache Luminance were still a better choice than the Crayolas – even at different quantities. Side thought – I wonder why so many people still buy so many sets of cheap pencils if this is the case?
