Sailing Masters were officers in charge of navigation and piloting. It was a tough job because charts in those days were usually inaccurate or nonexistent. Education was required, and on non-pirate ships, it was a well-paid job.
24 November 2024 -An important and necessary pirate ship job was the sailing master. This officer’s duties included navigating and sailing the pirate ship. He would be skilled in map reading and charting the course of the pirate ship, which was pretty hard in those days when maps were incomplete and often erroneous.
A Doctor was essential onboard a pirate ship, subject to countless battles during its life at sea. In addition to injuries sustained from cannon, sword, pistol, or any other weapons a pirate faced wasn't the only source of work for the doctor. A pirate ship could have been infested with rats, lice, and cockroaches, and the food was stored in absolutely unsanitary conditions were an inexhaustible disease source.
14 July 2021 -Although a boatswain only falls third on the ranking of best jobs, this is one of the most important. They’re basically the ones in charge. One of their duties is to make sure that the supplies on the ship will last.
With that, they are well-fed and respected by the other crew members. This being one of the best jobs on the pirate ship is questionable.
