Beyond being a masterpiece of animated cinema, this film is one of the most original and powerful films, a work that unifies the best of surrealist aesthetics with a very intelligent analysis and dark humor. Bubble Bath is not only an experiment for the filmmaker, but also for the viewer, and remains one of my favourite animated feature. Habfürdő (also known as Foam Bath & Bubble Bath in English) is a 1979 Hungarian experimental animated film musical from Pannonia Film Studio directed by renowned painter György Kovásznai.

I've never seen a film like it. An experimental animated Eastern Bloc neo-constructivist musical romantic soap opera (ugh, one of those), it was directed by György Kovásznai, produced by Budapest's Pannónia Filmstúdió, and watched by apparently no. Habfürdő (known as Foam Bath or Bubble Bath in English) is an obscure 1979 note animated musical Romantic Comedy made by Hungary's Pannonia Film Studio, the only feature-length film of artist György Kovásznai.

The film will be free-to-view worldwide with English and French subtitles on two occasions on the NFI - Film Archive's YouTube channel: the first screening starts at 7 pm on 15 May, birthday of the director György Kovásznai, and there is a repeat screening the next day, similarly.

In other words: it's not quite like any animated film you've ever seen before. Sadly, this was director and animator Kovásznai's only feature film. Bubble Bath (Habfürdö) Hungarian director György Kovásznai's wildly idiosyncratic animated musical is one of the most indescribably strange, personal and totally irresistible cartoon features ever made.

His animated short films working with boldly expressive graphics and experimental soundscapes carved a niche in the genre traditions in Hungary. His first and only feature film, Bubble Bath debuting in 1980, is one of the most remarkable highpoints on the domestic and international animation palette, which now has a serious fan base. Cursed with the anxiety of existence, the neurotic characters of György Kovásznai's animated feature not only contort into fantastical shapes but even break out into jazz songs.

A love-triangle farce with a political heart, this gorgeously restored cult hit lampoons the stagnancy of 1970s Hungary.
