The group is fronted by Hals Smedstad on vocals and rhythm guitar and Jerry Wenger on backing vocals and guitar. They are accompanied by Jeff Valensky on upright bass and vocals, and Tyler Littleton backing vocals and mandolin. Red Thyme's music is a unique blend of traditional bluegrass and modern indie.

In August 2025, Red Thyme completed a highly successful East Coast tour, playing to enthusiastic crowds from Harpers Ferry, WV to Charleston, SC. Sharing their music with hundreds across historic venues and vibrant listening rooms, the tour marked a major milestone for the band and showcased their ability to connect with audiences far beyond.
