Bmw Hybrid Fan Running While Charging

Shortly after plugging it in, a fan starts and you can feel air blowing out front grill vents while the car sits in the garage. Occasionally, the fan stops but another motor still runs inside the hood. Thanks for the advice! We are brand new to this plug.

From the sound of the fan its probably a 300W motor and the car says its pulling 6A (720W) so 1/2 the charging energy is going to the fan. This seams like a waste of energy plus I'm worried the fan will wear out from running all night. The battery is in back so I can't imagine what good running this fan does.

Pipe fixed, bleeded, pump all works perfect BUT since > The cooling fan is instantly on, the AC doesnt cool only fan air, the auxilliary battery cannot charge as once the charger is plugged in the cooling fan comes in full on as though engine is red hot (even if cold non running) even on save mode it wont go up to more than 10% (i.

It was charging for like 30 minutes or so prior, and so when I walked outside it sounded like my car was running or the AC/fan was on. Mind trip cuz I swore I turned the car off!

It's keeping your HV battery at a safe/optimal temperature. Charging causes heating of the battery. The fan kicks on only when needed based on internal battery temperature. I haven't looked up your car specifically but I imagine it's pulling air through the condenser for the AC system.

I noticed a noise today while my i3 is in the garage charging. I've not noticed this before. It sounds like a low power air compressor, very similar (if not the same) as the noise I heard when the car is preconditioning using the AC. Is this normal? What is it doing? My only guess is cooling.

Our i3 REX started running the big fan while charging today. Our neighbor dropped by to ask if there is something wrong with the car, it's that loud. It's been running for 6 hours while the car is charging. I took the car for a drive - it drives normal, from time to time the "noisy fan" goes.

Sometimes when my X5 xDrive45e starts charging, a rather loud fan in the engine compartment starts running, quite loudly. This only happens at night, in the garage, when timed charging starts (9:00 PM, if that matters).
