Bath Beach is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, located at the southwestern edge of the borough on Gravesend Bay. The neighborhood borders Bensonhurst and New Utrecht to the northeast across 86th Street; Dyker Beach Park and Golf Course to the northwest across 14th Avenue; and Gravesend to the east across Stillwell Avenue. The name "Bath Beach" dates to the mid-19th century and reflects the Victorian fascination with seaside leisure.
The term "Bath" was borrowed from the famed English spa town of Bath, Somerset, signaling refinement and recreation. Bath Beach began as a weekend retreat for the elite and evolved into an Italian American enclave after the 1929 crash opened housing access. Cost to use the bathhouse: free - after our day at the beach, we utilized the bathhouse next to the aquarium (its more towards the parking lot) and took a full shower.

No changing of clothes is permitted on the beach. This includes the shower areas or restrooms. Please use bathhouses provided in the Pavilion and Inlet parking lots.

In lieu of presenting a municipal beach tag to gain free admission to certain bathing beaches, the above-mentioned military personnel, veterans, their spouse and dependent children must present a valid military identification card, form DD-214 or similar document, or state driver's license or identification card indicating that the holder is.
