PDF RCW 9.94A.734 Home detention - Conditions. (1) Home detention may not be imposed for offenders convicted of the following offenses, unless imposed as partial confinement in the department's parenting program under RCW 9.94A.6551 or the graduated reentry program under RCW 9.94A.733: (a) A violent offense; (b) Any sex offense; (c) Any drug. The Electronic Home Detention (EHD) Program is an offender-funded alternative sanction program that allows low-risk adults in custody (AIC) to serve part or all of a jail sentence at home, making more space available in our jail for AICs who pose a greater threat to our community.

Washington's criminal rules authorize a trial judge to release a person before trial, subject to electronic home monitoring (EHM).
If convicted of a felony, the defendant is entitled to have the days spent on pretrial EHM credited against any sentence of confinement he or she may receive. Petitioner Joshua Harris pled guilty to two misdemeanors and sought credit for his time spent on EHM. Home detention for purposes of credit includes restrictions on liberty such as curfews restricting movement for 12 hours or more per day and electronic monitoring that restricts travel or movement.
Home confinement and electronic monitoring are forms of supervised community release that function as alternatives to traditional incarceration. In response to Raygoza's request that bail be lowered, the judge approved that, provided Raygoza agreed to electronically monitored home detention.
Raygoza agreed to this. Raygoza then posted a bond for $350,000 and was released, subject to electronic home monitoring and was confirmed to his house. "Home detention" is defined in RCW 9.94A.030 (28) to include confinement in a private residence subject to electronic surveillance.
Taken together, all of those parts of the RCW mean that you can get credit for time served on home detention prior to sentencing on a felony conviction. Electronic home monitoring Hennepin County's Electronic Home Monitoring program is a community-based alternative sanction used by the courts in lieu of incarceration for low-risk residents. On any given day, over 600 adult and juvenile residents are monitored electronically in Hennepin County.
