Is Metal Lee Stronger Than Rock Lee

Part 1 Lee is actually a year older than Metal, if the Boruto kids are the same age as part 1 Naruto kids minus team Guy. I can't quite remember what's strictly manga or anime, but i think Lee learned pretty much everything he knows from Guy and developed the insane strength he had during the chunin exams in his first year as a genin. He is more powerful than Rock Lee, and without even entering into close combat with him, he can beat Lee with his Dojutsu and other countless Ninjutsu.

In Metal's defense, we're talking age 12 vs 13 too, and Lee apparently really blossomed in the last year. So Metal Lee might be around as strong or stronger than 12 year old Rock for all we know (hard to say when Rock unlocked the first gate), but by the time we meet Rock, he's had a year's experience and is ready to test for chunin. Metal Lee's name is derived from the metal musical genre and is a play on Bruce Lee, whose given name is pronounced the same as blues in Japanese. It is a continuation of the pun established with his father, Rock Lee. It's sad.

Rock lee was so heavily underdeveloped and unused. Of all the leaf genie during Part 1, Lee was a stand out. After the fight with Gaara it seemed like writers didn't know what else to do with him.

I was so hoping Metal Lee wouldn't get treated like that and he just ended up being a horrible character instead. Arguably a worse fate. 4 Boruto characters who would lose to Rock Lee and 4 Boruto characters strong enough to defeat the Taijutsu expert.
