Flat columns are designed to be mounted to the wall or a flat surface. Some of our polyurethane pilasters come in 3 parts so the capital, shaft, and base of the pilasters may be purchased separately. Other are single piece construction. All columns and pilasters are primed and ready for paint.

Pilasters are essentially a flat column applied to a wall. They give the appearance of an embedded column which protrudes a few inches from the wall. Like a column, they generally have a base and a cap. They can be fluted, flat, or have a recessed center panel. Sometimes the pilaster supports an arch, pediment, or cornice which serves as the cap. Today, they are most often a part of a façade rather than an actual structural support, as was the case in my neighborhood. There are many ways to use pilasters to create aesthetic appeal. Pilasters can be used to add interest around doors and windows.

the orac luxxus p5 fluted pilaster features a 270mm reeded shaft making it an ideal choice for a variety of interior and exterior installations around larger homes and retail.
The p5 pilaster features decorative detailing which can co-ordinate with our interior coving and panel mouldings. The k251 capital has a gentle curve which can be matched to our kc4 columns and the reeded shaft looks good in conjunction with our tough p7040 dado rail. Installation of the pilaster components will require nothing more than adhesives and a caulking gun. Once installed finish with one coat of paint 24 hours later.

Our exterior pilaster mouldings are comprised of an eps core which is then finished with an exclusive cement coating. The end result is a lightweight and versatile composite moulding that rivals market alternatives in many ways. Versus wood, our mouldings are completely composite. They are not affected by rain, snow, or changes in temperature. They are maintenance free mouldings. We can also manufacture larger profiles in one piece whereas with wood, layering multiple shapes is needed. Because of this, they're susceptible to splitting which then leads to rotting and then a complete breakdown to the point where total replacement is the only option.
