The first time I saw a dual-swing refrigerator door was in 1990s Japan, from manufacturer Sharp. The kitchens there are so small, it really does make sense to have a door that you can open from either side. We have this new Rockwood 2906BS travel trailer that came with a Magic Chef refrigerator where both the freezer and refrigerator doors open from both sides.

It does take a little extra effort to fully close these doors since they first seem to partially latch but then fully latch as you add extra pressure to the closing door. Its seems cool, but then remember that most modern fridges solve that problem (that's not even actually a problem if your kitchen isn't poorly laid out) by having two doors that are half size, and you can easily open both from either side. This solution wouldn't have been possible back then without having a massive column in the middle because they hadn't invented the modern fridges seals that.
