My bathroom needs ventilation; the humidity is just getting to be too much when people shower. I cannot do anything permanent, so it needs to be just a window mount. The issue I am having is finding something for my window size.

My window is 9" width and 17" tall for maximal opening (tall and skinny); most fan units I can find assume a conventional windows size (ie 27-35" width). Can anyone. What is the best bathroom exhaust fan? I'm about to purchase and install a Homewerks 140 CFM unless someone recommends a better option.

Venting a bathroom with a window fan in the winter? I'm looking to replace our window mounted bathroom exhaust fan as it is not well insulated and therefore means the bathroom is getting increasingly cold in the winter. We have no heater in there in any case. Just bought a house and the bathrooms have no exhaust fans but they do have windows.

If we can't open the window, we use a dehumidifier to keep the bathroom from retaining so much moisture that mold grows. This is actually for airflow during the pandemic (it's a shared house), so I was going to make my own double-fan window fan out of bathroom exhaust fans. I got two 70cfm fans and was going to make a moisture-tolerant box with external louvers, etc.

Yep, code then said no fan required if natural ventilation is present ie window. Embarrassing to say as an inspector.really not sure if that's been omitted because every new house I inspect has fans in baths with windows. Edit: if you do have a fan.it needs to exhaust to an exterior location.

I'm considering either an in-window fan, like this one, but am unsure how to run power to the fan while still allowing the window to operate, or a traditional ceiling fan, running the duct work above the ceiling and out the window. Find the Best Home & Kitchen Deals. I'd say one of the best upgrades I did was replace my small weak ceiling exhaust fan in my bathroom with a panasonic whisper quiet fan thats 190 cfm. Its so quiet and my mirrors don't even get foggy anymore.

I mounted the computer fan in a plastic outdoor electrical junction box (with appropriate holes cut in it) and mounted the box to a sheet of acrylic to seal the open window.

The result is not actually that great as it doesn't do any particularly amazing job at clearing the room. It clears faster if I simply open the window. Mine rust.

In the living room I have two windows and I was thinking of getting some window fans to exhaust the warm air out. From what I have read the best case is to have an intake fan positioned in another window at the front of the house to create a cross breeze, but there isn't a window in a good spot to do so. 43 votes, 51 comments.

People saying open a window, while it does work, its not as effective as an extractor fan as the fan causes the forced draught. Definitely invest in getting one put in, they aren't too difficult to install for an electrician and they aren''t that expensive. Open your favorite search engine and type: "window fan with damper".

The ones with fancy controllers have temperature and humidity sensors that make the fan kick in automatically, or you can use a simple one with a timer or on/off switch. Bathroom without a window or exhaust fan, is having the AC on and the door open enough or do I need a dehumidifier too? Hi guys, I just moved into a co-op unit. The building was built in the '60s and the unit originally had a bathtub in it with no exhaust fan.

I recently moved to a new apartment and there's no exhaust fan in the bathroom so it gets pretty unpleasantly steamy when someone showers. I would open the window, except that it's probably 6 feet away from the little landing in the courtyard where people set their trash, so keeping that open risks flashing the neighbors and letting flies in. I find when I run the exhaust fan in the bathroom if I leave the door open a bit this allows the fan to draw much better because it isn't pulling against the vacuum of the small room.
