Wynford Dore's Early Life

Life for him started when he was born into a working class family in South Wales in 1949. The family moved to the industrial city, Coventry, in 1959 where he continued his school at King Henry VIII grammar school.

Business Success

His first business was started whilst still at school - it was in photography and provided him the financial ability to satisfy his youthful passion for driving interesting cars. After leaving school he worked at Jaguar Cars as a systems analyst and there he showed a keen eye for using the capability of evolving information technology, to develop innovative solutions for large scale production problems. His formed his second company, Nullifire Ltd, in 1974 to offer a novel solution to structural fire protection for steel-work. At the time the industry faced the challenges of health issues around the materials generally used. He pioneered a solution that overcame those issues and added our features that led to the possibility of extensive use of exposed steelwork in public, commercial and industrial buildings. He set up research centers in Coventry and Paris, and his products were market leaders in fire-resistant paint technology until he sold Nullifire in 1998 to RPM inc.

Turning Point for Wynford

His eldest daughter had struggled throughout her school life - despite having great teachers she was unable to learn and retain key skills. He wanted to understand what the root cause of her challenges so started researching why and how brains learn and what is it that determines which skills we will become good at.

So from 1999 he switched his energies - he began collaborations with neuroscientists and cognitive psychologists from Harvard, Sheffield and other Universities. This research led to the opening of a clinic in Leamington Spa followed by 50 more clinics many of which were franchised in other countries. The treatment focused on helping symptoms of learning difficulties and the results attracted significant press including BBC, The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail and other prominent media. High profile documentary makers including 60 Minutes in the US and Trevor McDonald in the UK conducted their own studies on the effectiveness of the clinics and the resulting documentaries showed delighted families waxing lyrical about the life changing results. The Trevor McDonald documentary received the highest public response the documentary maker's had experienced at that time.

Professors conducted independent research in schools into the results of the treatment method. This research measured the impact it had on reading, writing and other issues and confirmed very positive results. This research was peer reviewed and published in a scientific journal. However, other academics who were manifestly wedded to previous theories that were now becoming threatened by Dore's methods were highly critical of this research and made their views known. He was and remains unfazed by such criticism and remains focused on what works for children. He also takes great comfort from the increasing body of evidence that supports the theories he developed.

He chose to subsidize the cost of treatment for over 45,000 clients to use the clinics' services as he wanted as many children as possible to benefit from the relief it provided. However he realized that this process would not become an accessible and affordable way that would reach the millions around the world that needed this treatment. Thus he sold the clinics in 2009 to an organization that now focuses on reaching children within school system.

His first book "Dyslexia the Miracle Cure" was published in 2006 by John Blake Publishers - it took the title from the Trevor McDonald documentary and is available on Amazon and Kindle. In 2013 he was made a board member of The Reach Institute, a New York based charity committed to bringing proven methodology to children with mental health challenges. There he works alongside other prominent US psychiatrists and pediatricians and led by Dr Peter Jensen, former head of Child Psychiatry for the NIMH and professor at Columbia.

For the last 5 years he hassled a research and development team working on web-based software programs designed to enhance skills development. Having worked with thousands of struggling children he responded to the fact that so many have hidden genius and the school system is not equipped to find that or deal with it.

Alongside his brain development research he has continued with his quest to create a world class school system. Challenged by the problems faced by most schools, a staid educational system, and little motivation for real improvement, with his cousin, a former headmaster and government advisor on educational reform, they bought a private school (Arnold Lodge School) in Warwickshire, and there they progressively implemented novel educational & motivational strategies to enhance students' learning and achievement. They remained committed to ensuring that the school uses the latest proven methods for educating children in the most engaging ways possible.

These methods led to the creation of innovative software programs for educational assessment and a new company, Educational Development International PLC. It set new customer service and reliability standards in an otherwise staid industry.

A devoted father of 4 and grandfather, Dore's keenest desires now are to continue his Wynford Dore education related research and to develop web-based programs that make a difference in the lives of others His quest is to help them develop and strengthen essential brain-based skills-- concentration, working memory, motivation, processing speed, coordination, and visual-motor integration in a permanent way. Strongly driven by ongoing data collection and programmatic research, this company (Zing Performance) has now progressed onto multiple web-based platforms and apps.

His life purpose is to prove that education can and should be vastly improved and make these life changing discoveries accessible to all - individuals, schools, business, charities and sport. He works alongside his partner, Ninka Mauritson, a best selling Danish author who is an expert in Autistic symptoms and how they can be alleviated.
