The countdown to 2019 was more than just resolutions and celebrations—it was a chance to get creative. For families, teachers, and craft enthusiasts, free 2019 New Year's printable coloring pages offered a fun, low-cost way to mark the occasion. These downloadable designs brought together the festive spirit of the holiday with the simple joy of coloring, making them a popular resource for parties, classroom activities, and quiet family time.
Why Choose Printable Coloring Pages for New Year's Celebrations
Printable coloring pages are a digital-age twist on a classic activity. Instead of buying pre-made coloring books, you can find countless designs online, print exactly the number of copies you need, and often choose from a wider variety of styles. For New Year's 2019, this meant everything from simple "Happy New Year" banners with balloons to intricate zodiac-themed illustrations for the Year of the Pig. The cost is zero, and the only limit is your printer's ink.
These pages also serve a practical purpose beyond fun. For young children, they help develop fine motor skills and color recognition. For older kids and adults, they offer a meditative, screen-free activity during the busy holiday season. Teachers could use them as a structured December classroom activity, while parents had an easy way to entertain kids during winter break gatherings.
Popular Themes in 2019 Designs
The year 2019 had its own unique flavor. Common themes included:
- **Year of the Pig**: Many designs featured cute pig motifs, aligning with the Chinese zodiac.
- **Classic Countdown Imagery**: Clocks striking midnight, champagne glasses, party hats, and confetti.
- **"Happy New Year 2019" Lettering**: Bold text designs that kids could color and display as decorations.

- **Winter Scenes**: Snowmen, snowflakes, and cozy imagery to match the season.
Finding the Best Free Resources
While we can't link directly to external sites, a targeted search for "free 2019 New Year's printable coloring pages" yields many reputable sources. Look for websites dedicated to educational printables, family blogs, and holiday craft sites. Always preview the page to ensure the design fits your child's skill level and to check that the site itself is safe. Many sites offer samples; if a site feels cluttered or asks for too much personal information, move on.
Consider the variety: some pages are simple line art, others are complex mazes or word searches combined with coloring. Having a mix keeps the activity fresh. Downloading a small collection ensures you have options for different moods and attention spans.
Making the Most of Your Printable Pages
Once you have your chosen files, think beyond basic crayons. Encourage using glitter glue for accents on "2019" numbers, or watercolors for a softer background wash before coloring lines. For a party, set up a coloring station where kids can work together on a large poster-sized printable. These pages aren't just for December 31st; they can be used all through January as a reflective activity.
Creating a time capsule is another idea: have kids color a page, write their hopes for 2019 on the back, and seal it to open the following New Year's Eve. This turns a simple craft into a meaningful tradition. Remember, the goal is engagement and celebration, not perfection. The slight mess and unique color choices are part of the memory.
The tradition of celebrating holidays with accessible, creative activities like coloring continues strong. Searching for these specific "2019" designs is a snapshot of a particular year's digital crafting culture. Whether you saved those pages or are looking back, they represent a simple, heartfelt way to welcome a new beginning.
