The following
will delete Internet Temporary Files, History and Cookies from your
computer.
1. Go
to Internet Explorer
2. Go
to Tools > Internet Options
3. Click
Delete button
4. Put
a Check in all boxes and then click Delete
Note: 'Preserve Favorites
website data'. Internet Explorer 10.0 gives you an
additional option in the Delete Browsing History window. It is a
personal preference to check this box or not. However, it is
recommended to not check this box every time you clear your browsing history.
It is always good to start fresh every now and then.
5. Click OK to exit
Note: A completion message bar will appear at the bottom of the
browser. It will go away on it's
own or you can click the small X on the far right side of the bar.
Your computer
like your desk can get overrun with a lot of clutter that you cannot easily see
or remove manually. Occasionally you need to clean out your hard drive
just as you would do with your desk. It is a quick and easy process that
will free up some valuable hard drive space.
1. Click Start, then type Disk, then click on Disk Cleanup under Programs
2. Wait for Disk Cleanup to locate files
3. Wait for Disk Cleanup to locate files
4. Put a check in each box. Scroll down until every box is checked, then click OK.
5. Click Delete Files
A
small window will appear with the status of the cleanup. Once it
is finished, it will close on it's
own. Do not click the red X, as this will cancel the
deletion process
For optimal
performance, perform defragmentation 1 to 3 times in a row.

2. Verify
the C: drive is highlighted and click on Defragment Disk
You can change
the schedule for the automatic defragmentation at any time. Make sure
that the time you choose will be a time the computer will be on and not in use.
1. Click
Start, then type Defrag, then click on Disk Defragmenter under Programs
2. Click
on Configure Schedule...
3. Click
on the small arrow for Frequency: then choose how often
you want the system to run the Defragmenter. (Weekly is the recommended
option)
4. Now
click on the small arrow for Day:, click on the day
you want.
5. Click
on the small arrow for Time:, click a time and now
click OK. Make sure you pick a time you know your computer will be on and
not in use.
6. Click
on Select Disks...
7. Put a check in front of each
drive you want to schedule and click OK. (C: is the default)
Note:
If there are other drives listed, make sure they are physical drives (not a pen
drive) and put a check in front of those as well. The picture above gives
an example of what a pen drive (also called thumb drives or memory sticks)
would show up as in this window.
