Blue Ridge Heritage Area Awards Grant to CCCRA

... to commission an original sculpture "A Tribute to Traditional Music", by Brasstown artisan, Joe Miller/Miller Forge. The 5-foot metal art piece, depicting a guitar, fiddle and banjo, will stand in front of the Hayesville Town Hall as a reminder of our traditional music roots. The sculpture is expected to be dedicated in time for the 2017 Summer Friday Night Concerts, and be a favorite photo-op stop for locals and tourists visiting Clay County.

Historic Courthouse Preservation

Planning for the preservation of the Historic Courthouse, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, proceeds at a fast pace with consultations with NC State Historical Preservation Office representatives, and with a respected elevator installation contractor. Facilitated by BRMEMC, the TVA agreed to provide the services of a Mechanical Engineer to work with Architect Joe Slaton to develop an HVAC plan.

Work will begin on the roof, exterior repair, and painting shortly.  What a grand sight it will be to see workmen on and around our treasured building during the next few weeks.
