He has served on many capacities including the board of director and board of advisor for the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, the Wisconsin United Coalition Mutual Assistance Association (WUCMAA), the American Translator Association, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Chungyia has also served on the Appleton City Plan Commission and the Board President of the Hmong American Partnership of Fox Valley, Inc.
Chungyia is awarded the “2007 Good Citizen Award” presented by the Wisconsin Department of Commerce and Wisconsin Minority Business, the “2008 & 2018 Business of the Year” by the Hmong Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce, the “2010 Successful Hmong Entrepreneur Award” presented by the Wisconsin Hmong Refugee Committee, and the “2011 Most Charitable Business of the Year” presented by the 18 Councils of Wisconsin. Since 2000, he has donated time, expertise, and financial to help the Hmong population and community at large.

Michael married to Faith HuabCi Thao. Together, they have 5 children, age from 22 to 33. Formerly worked for State of Minnesota, Department of Human Services, as a System Analyst from 1990 - 2009, 19 years.
Michael Cherwayia graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics and Physic in 1991. Michael also graduated with an Oracle Database Administrator.
Michael Cherwayia currently served as a Treasurer/Finance Chair of Hmong/Lao Veterans Statue Committee, which erected a monument to remember the falling soldiers in the “Secret War” in Laos. He lead a Committee to lobbyist the state Senators and House of Representatives to assist with funding to build the monument as well as fundraising from the Hmong community. The monument erected in May 2016 at the Minnesota Capital Ground. Currently lead the History Book Committee to complete the History Book as part of the Monument Project.
Michael Cherwayia was a Treasurer of Minnesota DFL Asian Pacific, Financial Chair – Silver Maple District (Boys Scout of America), Treasurer for Committee for World-Class Schools (St Paul Public School Tax Levy, raised $21M), Co-Treasurer for State Senator Mee Moua, Treasurer for State Senator Ellen R. Anderson, Treasurer for Saint Paul School Al Artwig, Treasurer for Saint Paul School Board Neal Thao, Secretary and Board of Directors of North East Neighborhood Development Corporation, Chairperson of Planning Committee - Peoples Network of Minnesota, Inc., Treasurer of Hmong Youth Association of Minnesota, Inc., Outreach Person for Hmong Student Academic Development Center - U of MN, and the list goes on.
Michael received City of Saint Paul Resolution and State of Minnesota Resolution in 2023 for his services.

I am Ameiyavan (Amy) Xeemthao, niam former nresxeem/council Tswjkoob Xeemthao. I was born in Banvinai, Thailand in 1981 to (Toj XeemChongBlia Vang and Kaying Her). I have 5 brothers, 3 steps sisters. While I was in my senior year, I took some college courses and got my NAR and working part time at Good Samaritan Society. After I graduated from Harding High School, I went to St. Paul College to get my LPN. Graduated that program in 2004 then working at HealthEast Roselawn Clinic.
While working full time, I have attended Century College to get my RN. Graduated my RN, AS degree in 2014 then started working at Bethel Health Care System.
Chuehue Thao is now retired. He graduated with an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin. He worked at Valor Public Safety Department for 14 years. He has great knowledge of the Criminal system. Now that he retired from the force, he contributes his time with Thao families and community in Appleton.

At the same time, I went back to continue my higher education at St. Catherine University and got my RN-BSN in 2017. I started working full time at Veterans Hospital since 2017 until now while working at Millennium Assisted Living part time to assist our elderly. As being a house-wife, full time working person, and continue to help the community, I’m proud to recently join TUN to support our Thao family.
