To my sensibilities, one of the more compelling dwarf planets recently assigned a name is Achlys (Achlus). Currently she transits Leo and stands on the verge of a heap of personal planet stimulation. Not only is this an opportunity to discover keys to her nature, her delineative attributes can be well applied in life.
Achlys was probably included in the club of the Keres, female spirits that rendered tortuous and violent deaths, particularly through disease, accidents, death on the battlefield and homicide. Ancient reporting declared she existed as eternal night, and bore the distinction of first created being, probably incarnating before Chaos. Hesiod reported she was the embodiment of misery and sadness, and due to this, was represented on the shield of Heracles. Her physical attributes include a most pale appearance, nutrition deprived and weeping. Accented with chattering teeth, swollen knees, exceedingly long fingernails, blood crusted cheeks, and to top off her appearance, her upper body was shrouded with choking dust. She possessed misted eyes like those often seen on a person immediately prior to death. In fact, Achlys is attributed as participating in the passing of souls into the afterlife. Sounds like she and Eris were soul mates the realm of gruesome.
Often, gleaning useful astrological meaning from the mythology becomes challenging. Given that, astrologers can refer to the North Node and Perihelion (where a planet comes closest to the Sun in its orbit. And the obligatory note here: these orbital elements are heliocentric and do not fit in with a geocentric (the typically employed horoscope).
The North Node of Achlys intersects the ecliptic at 11 Sagittarius 52, virtually aligned with the Great Attractor. Her perihelion occurs at 26 Sagittarius 39, conjunct the core of our galaxy. Since there is no virtual parallax between the Sun’s view and the Earth’s view of distant galactic effects, the positions of galactic points can be included in both systems.
And what does this mean? Ultimately, Achlys is about absolute truth. The concepts she extracts from the Galactic Center are prioritized as something that requires immediate attention just in case this day is your last in your body. Get on with downloading and applying all progressive ideas and treat them as if there is no tomorrow. Humanity cannot wait. As for the node to the Great Attractor, given Achlys sees through the pale of death she knows special things. She knows that what she knows apply to all persons universally. No one is excluded and all incarnate may benefit from her insights.
How can this be converted into something useful in the real world? For one, engage with truthfulness. Feel it and infuse truth into the core of your being. Avoid and do not interact with those who dispense falsehoods, treat others with cruelty, and wish the ending of life upon others. Most important, when prompted to state conditions of life or to define your emotional profile, do so with impeccable honestly. Act as if every word spoken must possess the impact of things revealed on ones death bed. According to Achlys, it is then that unreserved truth is declared.
Achlys demands truth, insights and any progressive or transformation-based concept one possesses be revealed as if there is no tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, why not consider some transits that happen virtually tomorrow in the overall scheme of time according to the cosmic clock?
27 January: Venus/Mercury in Aquarius opposite Achlys in Leo
This transit demands no one hedge their bets. Do not attenuate what you want when asked. Do not consider if you think the other person can handle your truth or see its merit in your life. Just declare it. Work with the assumption that if asked, the exchange completes when you answer. The whole and complete honesty enchilada. Hold nothing back. After all, if you’re going to state something that you want to acquire or achieve in this lifetime, the sooner it gets out there, the more likely others can rally around and support any Aquarian altruism in your cause.
01 February: Sun in Aquarius opposite Achlys in Leo
Okay, when someone asks, “Who are you?” indicate who you are and how you got to this moment in time. It feels great to fully state all of your attributes, your insights, and how everything in your life that has occurred fits perfectly into this moment. State your individuality with pride. Work away from defining yourself as compliant and conciliatory when such traits fail to feed your life aspirations. Maybe rework all your profiles, resume and about pages to include everything that you know to be true about yourself, and that sparkles, and in so doing, penetrates fog and veils.
05 February: Vesta in Aquarius opposite Achlys in Leo
This is the time to ask yourself, “What can you absolutely not live without?” Accept whatever that is, even if, especially if, you feel there is a social stigma overlaid upon that thing. Ponder how you can take it with you upon your physical demise. It’s very similar to dropping into a black hole, grasping insight and promising yourself you’ll remember it later, when you know you cannot do that. Infuse insights into your soul. Insights, according to some sources, have no mass, diameter, density or pesky gravity. Absorbing each and every morsel of truth in life are commodities that you just might be able to carry with you. Regardless, once infused, become an abundant spreader of insights.
08 February: Mars in Aquarius opposite Achlys in Leo
Surely it must true that not all insights downloaded can be accepted by the consciousness of everyone you encounter. No matter. You must speak what you believe to be the absolute cosmic truth of it all. Spend no time attempting to convert the inconvertible minds. They’re going to wander off and align with whatever agreement they can find that supports their beliefs. But know this: statements of truth bother cats and stimulate their curiosity.
They will investigate your claims and maybe come to conclude similar things. But they will not do that with you in the room... as it is with sharing knowledge and insight. There is no need for force-feeding or ramming ideas into the consciousness of others. You know, perhaps it is that ones impact on the world, on others, and in life cannot know be known in this lifetime. Dispense all your insights and knowledge regardless - and cultivate with an aloofness to response and what that means to your ability to influence.
13 February: Icarus in Aquarius opposite Achlys in Leo
Yes, sharing insights can be overdone. When stacking blocks, one can put on one block too many and the entire construct collapses. The Icarus to Achlys opposition is tricky. Modulate your output without overwhelming your recipients. Develop an instinct for nominal or optimal. This is not a “more is better” transit. Assess the appropriate range of approach. Consider life to be a bonfire. How close can you stand to this amazing light and source of warmth without overdoing it. This an “enough is enough” transit. Across the opposition consider this two ways. How much can you declare to others and when do you need to state with emphasis that you are full and at your threshold for absorbing the declarations of others?
And now the way is clear for Saturn to enter Aries. Or is this simply a matter of cool cosmic coincidence that now we know useful stuff about Achlys in the year of our Lord 2026 - the year of complete and full soulful expression?
