Bmw E60 545i Vs 550i

545i and 550i are basically the same save for the engine and perhaps a couple of options (NIghtVision comes to mind). Tough call on th e'04 - '06 line of reasoning very personal decision. The only real difference between 05/545 and 06/550 as base models is the HP (545 = 320, 550 = 367), after that it comes down to installed options.

Go back to the dealer with the four 545i and have them give you a quote on the 545i. DO NOT have them quote you a price on the 550i. Once you get their quote, go to other dealers to get prices on the 550i.

The dealer with the 545i's will probably make the 545i look like a great bargain because they want to unload them. They will probably not take too much off the 550i's just to make you think. If you are looking to buy BMW I would choose 550 from either 545 or 550 if the cars almost at same price.

But as everyone said 550 is looked little low on price if the car is good condition. So about prices, so for 06/07 550 is in good condition, meaning no problems and just a little tear and wear, trade-in value is about 17,000 to 20,000. Road and Track got 5.3 secs on their 545i and C/D got 5.5 secs.

I think the old 540i and 545i are about the same for 0-60 with small differences, but the hp really takes over as speeds increase. I was doing some reading on 545i and the N62 engine in general and came across this interesting website. Not sure how accurate this info is but here's a quote from there.
