I supplement feed for deer and pheasants using whole corn.Both seem to prefer it over cracked. Plus with cracked you get so much tiny and powder in each bag. And as said, every small bird, and rodent will be on the cracked corn.

You can usecracked corn, whole kernels, or ground corn, depending on your preference. I don't think there's much nutritional value in corn (either way), well I guess it's more nutritional than bark. I've heard stories of people finding deer starved to death with a belly full of corn.
I think it just fills the void. I put out both and they seem to prefer the cracked!??! ... I always use whole kernal, don't see the need for cracked.
February 20, 2026 -It's high in starch, high in carbohydrates, and to a deer, it's basically a giant candy bar. Whether that candy bar is broken into pieces or served whole doesn't change the taste much. That said,cracked corn does release a stronger scent.
