Choosing the Right Floor Sander

Toolstation offers two primary types of floor sanders for hire: belt sanders and orbital sanders. Each has its advantages:

Belt Sanders

Ideal for large, flat surfaces like wooden floors, belt sanders remove material quickly and efficiently. They are perfect for preparing floors for finishing or removing old, damaged coatings. Toolstation's belt sanders come in various sizes, from compact to heavy-duty, catering to different project requirements.

Orbital Sanders

Orbital sanders are versatile and suitable for a wide range of surfaces, from wood and metal to paint and varnish. They are ideal for smaller jobs, intricate work, and achieving a fine, smooth finish. Toolstation offers a selection of orbital sanders with different sanding pad sizes and power levels.

Top Tips for Using a Hired Floor Sander

To make the most of your Toolstation floor sander hire, follow these top tips:

• Prepare your floor by clearing debris, removing nails, and filling any gaps before sanding.
• Start with a coarse grit sandpaper (e.g., 40 or 60 grit) to remove major imperfections, then progress to finer grits (e.g., 80, 120, and 150) for a smooth finish.
• Work in the direction of the floor's grain, and use even, overlapping strokes.
• Regularly clean the sanding machine to prevent clogging and ensure optimal performance.
• Allow sufficient time for sanding and finishing, as rushing the process can lead to poor results.
