BASEMENT BAR is a small indie rock venue with two stages and separate bar areas. The main room has dim lighting, posters, and cheap drinks. The name is derived from the Japanese word for department store basement food halls.

It's not a huge space, but that's a plus as it allows for better enjoyment of live music. The venue hosts indie bands and DJ sets, making it an ideal spot for music lovers. Shimokitazawa's Basement Bar, located a little ways off the more animated heart of the famous hip youth town, is fast becoming one of my favourite haunts in the city.

Well-known for the quality indie rock acts it regularly hosts, both local and international, going there is something that any Tokyoite should experience at least once. As two of Shimokitazawa's most stalwart music venues, it's hard not to mention the neighbouring Basement Bar and Three in the same breath. Shimokita is home to countless small, underground.

From the South exit of Shimokitazawa station, walk straight ahead. You'll pass a McDonalds on your left. Follow the street as it veers left and you should pass a Family Mart, Club 251, Club 440, then a 7-11 all on your right.

＊ABOUT＊ 下北沢の駅から少し歩いたところにある Shimokitazawa BASEMENTBAR。 Shimokitazawa THREEの隣にあって たくさんのバンドマンが1回は行ったことのあるライブハウス! Also, the placement of the bar close to the entrance makes this place appear crammed and stuffy. Nevertheless, Basement is a party hot-spot among the locals and tourists alike.
