On a Z3 you fold down the softtop and install the hardtop. 2 locating pins in the back of the hardtop, 1 on each side, they both go down in a female pin locator. A lock handle will lock the locating pin in place.
One of the female pin locator is wired to provide power to the hardtop rear defrost. In the front there is 2 screws which link the hardtop to the top of the windshield frame. Easy to.
