I swear having a baby has zapped any creativity I used to have. Small, dark living room. Grey sofas, wooden floor, currently off white walls.

I want a change of accessories./ colour. Hate the grey but new sofas are not currently an option so I thought changing throws/cushions and a new rug would bring it up to date cheaply? Any ideas on colours that are not old fashioned or dated, and that. Then once you know what room layout/function you can think about how you want it to feel so, for example, do you want your front living room to be a grown up space if so then you might go for something more luxurious? Or does it need to feel like a super comfy family tv space?

I think bright matte white always gives a bit of a zing that magnolia doesn't - magnolia can look uninspired and a bit "corporate hotel". Large, bright, focal artworks, colourful cushions, big rug. Totally about your personal style, though.

I think that's the best way to style a room. Having a sofa against the wall makes the room look like a corridor. Where does the TV go if you do this? We have a similar proportioned sitting room (though infuriatingly the chimney breast isn't quite central so we have one small alcove at the door side and one bigger on at the window side) and I really wanted two sofas facing each other.

Dark blue in living room, neutral warm white in the dining room, same floor throughout. I would go for herringbone wood flooring with a nice snuggly rug in the living room. Hi I'm soon going to be redecorating my living room and was after some inspiration.

It's currently cream with a brick wallpaper feature wall where the fire is. I have a burnt orange rug and a brown leather settee. Opposite the fire wall I have a bay window.
