Picnic Table Dimensions
Our picnic table plans will result in a table that is 6 ft. long, 3 ft. wide, and 30 in. tall. These dimensions provide ample seating for six adults and allow for comfortable legroom. You can adjust the size to fit your specific needs, but keep in mind that altering the dimensions may require adjusting the cut list and assembly instructions.

Cut List
| Part | Quantity | Dimension |
|---|---|---|
| Legs | 4 | 4x4 @ 28 in. |
| Support beams | 4 | 2x4 @ 30 in. |
| Tabletop slats | 10 | 2x6 @ 6 ft. |
| Bench slats | 12 | 2x4 @ 3 ft. |
| Bench supports | 4 | 2x4 @ 16 in. |
Assembly Instructions
1. Build the Legs and Supports
Cut the 4x4 lumber into four 28-inch legs. Attach the 2x4 support beams to the legs using 2.5-inch galvanized nails and exterior wood glue. Ensure the support beams are flush with the top of the legs and positioned 1.5 inches from the bottom.
2. Assemble the Tabletop Frame
Create a rectangular frame using the remaining 2x4 support beams, ensuring the frame is 6 ft. long and 1 ft. wide. Attach the frame to the legs using 2.5-inch exterior wood screws, creating a sturdy base for the tabletop.
3. Install the Tabletop Slats
Lay out the 2x6 tabletop slats within the frame, spacing them evenly apart. Secure the slats to the frame using 2.5-inch exterior wood screws, creating a solid surface for your picnic table.

4. Build the Benches
Cut the 2x4 lumber into four 16-inch bench supports. Attach these supports to the underside of the 2x4 bench slats, creating two 3 ft. long benches. Ensure the supports are positioned 1.5 inches from the ends of the benches.
5. Attach the Benches to the Table
Position the benches on either side of the picnic table, ensuring they are flush with the table's edge. Secure the benches to the table using 2.5-inch exterior wood screws, creating a cohesive seating area.
6. Finish and Protect
Sand any rough edges and apply an exterior wood sealant to protect your picnic table from the elements. Allow the sealant to dry completely before using the table.
Congratulations! You've successfully built a durable and functional picnic table that will provide years of outdoor enjoyment. These picnic table plans offer a straightforward approach to creating a custom piece that suits your space and style. Happy building!
