Michael Bright was born on March 15, 1945, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to proud parents, James and Martha Bright. He grew up in the vibrant city, soaking in the rich culture and history that would later inspire his own pursuits. After graduating from Slidell High School, Michael went on to earn a degree in History from Tulane University, further fueling his passion for preserving the past.

Michael was a dedicated family man, married to his loving wife, Linda, for 45 years. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Emily and Matthew, who remember their father as a kind, patient, and wise man. Michael's grandchildren, Lily and Max, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Michael's Impact on Slidell

Michael's contributions to Slidell were vast and varied. He was a prominent businessman, owning and operating the successful Bright's Hardware Store for over three decades. Michael's commitment to Slidell extended beyond his business. He was an active member of the Slidell Historical Society, working tirelessly to preserve the city's rich history. His efforts led to the restoration of several historic buildings, including the iconic Slidell Train Depot.
